Description
easy TRAP Mozzie Dunks – The safe, easy and effective way to kill developing mosquito, fungus gnat and sandfly larvae before they become breeding, biting adults! Non-toxic to humans, fish, beneficial bacteria, aquatic life, pets and vegetations. Also available in a 4 pack and a quick release granule form (see “You may also like” below)
Contains: Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (The same active ingredient present in Vectobac and Nil Nat yet at a fraction of the cost!
For use in: Fish ponds, hydroponic reservoirs and any standing body of water where mosquitos, sandflies and fungus gnats may breed. Fungus gnat larvae can also be present in moist soil. Check out the Mozzie bits also as these are more useful for soil growers and severe pond and hydro res infestations in need of immediate attention.
Hydroponics and Soil: An eco-friendly biological way of controlling Fungus Gnats, which are small black sandfly like insects, that in their larvae stage, eat the roots of your plants causing stunted growth and mal-nutrition. You may not notice damage to the leaves of your plants, however, if you see sandflies in your grow room or greenhouse then chances are fungus gnat larvae are present at the root zone. Can also be used as a preventative.
Directions: Float on water and will keep on working for 30 days or more. While floating, the dunks slowly release a long-term biological mosquito larvicide at the waters surface.
Up to 0.5sq. meter 1/4 Dunk (regardless of depth)
0.5 to 2.4sq. meters 1/2 Dunk (regardless of depth)
2.5 to 10sq. meters 1 Dunk (regardless of depth)
More than 10sq. meters 1 Dunk per 10sq mtr
Note: If using in hydro, it’s a good idea to put the dunk inside a mesh bag or pantyhose sock as they do make a little bit of a mess over time as little bits fall off. The mesh keeps the mess contained for future removal.
QUESTION: I want to try your “Mozzie Dunk” and “Mozzie Bits” products, they sound like a great idea! But which one should I use??
Good question! Both the “Dunks” and the “Bits” use the same active ingredient (Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis) so they are both as effective as each other.
However, the “Bits” are faster acting than the dunks. This is because the granules sink through the water column quicker, killing mosquito larvae within hours. The “Dunks” offer a slower release, and as a result tend to be more effective for a longer period of time (“Bits” generally up to 14 days whilst the “Dunks” will continue killing mosquito larvae for up to 30 days or more). So I suggest that if you notice mosquito larvae starting to hatch now, use the Bits for a “quick kill” and then ongoing use of the Dunks will ensure they don’t come back!
